EVERYTHING, ANYTHING AND NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.salvationhistory.com/

St. Paul Center For Biblical Theology
The founder and president of this website is Dr. Scott Hahn who is a former Protestant minister turned Catholic. (For more information on him please see the blog entry on Wednesday, July 18, 2007). It is a very interesting website with lots of information about our faith and it also focuses a lot on the Bible as it even has several online Bible courses you can take for FREE!!! The only thing required is that you register and have the discipline to see it through.

Catholic Home Study Service
The website above has quite a number of home study programs such as:-

WE PRAY: LIVING IN GOD'S PRESENCE

WE WORSHIP: A GUIDE TO THE CATHOLIC MASS

A CATHOLIC GUIDE TO THE BIBLE

CHRIST'S MOTHER AND OURS

Each of the above titles comes with a book that they will actually send to you when you sign up and register for the home study program. TRUST ME!!! I've already signed up for the 'A Catholic Guide to The Bible' program and I confirmed that I have received the book no strings attached absolutely FOC.

Now the question that we have to ask ourselves is this, are we truly lacking knowledge of our own faith because there is little or no resources around or is it because we ourselves have not done enough...................................

Bernard and I came out with this little rhyme last night and it goes like this:-

We want to complain about EVERYTHING but we don't want to do ANYTHING so we end up with NOTHING!!

Bless you all!!!!!!

Hey all, I just attended a Mass with Father Francis Anthony presiding in Holy Spirit Church and he walked us through the entire Mass explaining things one after the other so the Mass actually took almost 2 hours cos he gotta stop to explain. REALLY GOOD STUFF and I would greatly encourage everyone to go if there is another session like this in any church. I believe very often many of us Catholics just 'attend Mass' we do not 'participate'............here is one website to help you all make more sense of things especially in the section of the Liturgy of the Word. This website is great cos it actually helps to explain the Mass readings and how they relate to one another.

Do take the time and effort to take a look at it before you go for Mass and I believe that you will not regret it!!!!!

THE NICENE CREED

WOW! It's been quite a while cos I've been a bit busy lately but here's something for us all to pick up our Bibles and reflect upon.

So what do Catholics believe in anyways???? We been saying it ever since we were young every Sunday and at every mass faithfully without fail but do we really know and comprehend this declaration of faith and where it comes from??? Here's something I picked up from the Catholic Goldmine website http://www.catholicgoldmine.com

What Catholics Believe

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, (Gen 14:19)

of all that is seen and unseen. (Col 1:16)

We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, (Luke 1:35)

eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God, begotten not made, one in being with the Father. (Heb 1:3)

Through him all things were made. (John 1:2-3)

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: (John 3:13)

by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the virgin Mary, (Matt 1:18)

and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, (John 19:16)

he suffered, died and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures. (1 Cor 15:3-4)

He ascended into heaven (Luke 24:51)

and is seated at the right hand of the Father. (Col 3:1)

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead (2 Tim 4:1)

and his kingdom will have no end. (Luke 1:33)

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of Life, (Acts 2:17)

who proceeds from the Father and the Son. (John 14:16)

With the Father and Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. (1 Peter 1:10-11)

We believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church. (Rom 12:5)

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. (Acts 2:38)

We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. (Rom 6:5)

Amen

KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!!!!!!!

THE MASS! HOW? WHERE? WHAT? WHO? WHY?

Well many of us Catholics attend mass, and we've probably been doing it for as long as we've lived since our mom and dad dragged us off to the Mass and as long as there was lots of eye candy, as teenagers we don't mind going........(HA! HA! Ok ok not everyone but........). Anyways, seriously folks..............we have to admit it, a lot of us go for Mass but we are either doing it cos our parents/priest/catechism teacher said so (or we go to Hell) or that it's because we've been doing it so long that we can no longer remember why or our spouses/girlfriends/friends/somebody/anybody drags us to it or simply because we find that it is comforting to do so and we find a sense of peace and belonging..............but there is so much more to it than we fully realise!!! I have attached links to some websites where you might find more information on the Mass and hopefully with the grace of God, may you find a deeper sense of appreciation for the wonderful gift of the Mass that our Lord Jesus Christ instituted through His Church..................SHALOM!

This page gives you the relevant biblical text related to each section of the Mass

READ THE BIBLE AND CATHECISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURH IN 1 YEAR???!!!!!!

Hey guys and gals.......look at the guide that I found online to do the above. It looks like a heck of a lotta work but like it sezs, many of us don't really know our faith so with this we can't really say....'But I don't know where to start........'

http://www.chnetwork.org/journals/readguide04.pdf

I greatly encourage you to look through it and see if you are willing to make that personal commitment. However let's discuss this also during our SS Meeting to see if we would like to adopt this as part of our activities.

SCOTT HANH CONVERSION STORY!!!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!! What a story and the best part is ..........it isn't a story its a true to life TESTIMONIAL!!!! You know what's ironic, that a former Protestant minister has such enthusiasm for the Catholic faith while many of us born Catholics are very lukewarm or jaded about it. However, putting the negative aside let us instead be inspired by this testimonial to look deeper into our own faith and focus on the wonders and gifts that God has provided for us in the Catholic Church..................you'll find the story here on th link below:-

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINDING A CATHOLIC BIBLE ONLINE???

In this day and age of communication we often find ourselves looking for like a ton of stuff online and I believe that applies to the Bible as well.............here's some of the links that may provide useful for those who feel the same way,

This website ha actually many versions of the Bible but finding this particular Catholic version required a little bit of digging : ) , however this version is a little bit difficult to read because it is a direct translation from the Latin Vulgate so it's got a lot of thee's and thou's............
http://www.biblegateway.com/versions/index.php?action=getVersionInfo&vid=63&lang=2

The version found here is much easier to read as this is translated into our everyday english language.

Here's an interesting article on the Bible that you all might find interesting........I didn't know that there was so much to consider when buying a Bible..............it's really quite a blessing in disguise cos when I lost my laptop together with the bag that had my Bible in it.........I decided to do a litte bit of reading and found out so much more about the Bible..........I hope to share this with all of you..........(you don't have to lose a laptop to be motivated to find out more about the Bible ; ) )

USEFUL CATHOLIC WEBSITES!!!!!!!!

Hi all, this is Raymond here................anyways here's a list of some very useful and informative websites related to our faith.......I found them very useful in providing explanations to our faith, so I hope that you will too. Remember that our faith is just that.........OUR FAITH..............if WE do not make the effort to find out more then WHO will. Don't expect God to knock you on the head to give you a divine revelation on all matters of our faith......sorry to say it won't work that way..........................anyways just to share with you the more I find out the more I learn to appreciate the wonder and beauty of our faith................also the more I find out the more I realise what it means to follow Christ and trust me it ain't easy folks.............but that's exactly the point...............Christ never said it was easy, He only promised that he would be there to provide us with the strength and courage to face whatever trials and tribulation we may encounter and that would be enough as our reward is in heaven not on this earth!!!! So my advice is feel free to look up these website and if you need any help or more information you can contact me.....for those who are new or just stumbled onto this blog, A GREAT BIG WELCOME and for those old fellas, welcome home...................it's great to have ya back!!!!!

http://www.ewtn.com/
http://www.newadvent.com/
http://www.catholic-pages.com/

As you browse into these link, you will find more links to other related websites, however please bear in mind that we should always pray for wisdom and discernment in all that we see and read as information in this day and age can be easily distorted. Follow the simple rule.....'When in doubt, ASK!!!!!!!!!'
